SSA-UoG UEW Local Elects Substantive Executives

The Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana, University of Education, Winneba Local on Friday, 16th July, 2021, held elections at the University’s North Campus to elect its executives.
The election, which was supervised by the Electoral Commission, Winneba, saw a massive turnout at the polls. The peacefully organised elections started at 9:00 am and closed at 3:00 pm.

Mr. Isaac Donkoh, who was contesting for the Chairmanship polled 256 votes representing 81% out of the 316 total valid votes cast to win the Chairmanship position. He defeated his only competitor, Mr. Prince Alex Adoboe who secured 58 votes representing 18.4%. However, two ballots were rejected.
The Secretaryship position went to Mr. Hector Owoahene-Acheampong, who garnered 201 votes of the total valid votes cast to beat his closest contender, Mr. Alfred Otabil, who managed 113 votes. Mr. Owoahene-Acheampong’s votes represented 63.6% of the total valid votes while Mr. Otabil’s represented 32.8%.

About the Trusteeship position, Ms. Favour Mawusi Kpeli-Semabia gathered 73 votes representing 23% of the total valid votes cast to lose to Mr. Eric Abroh who polled 240 votes representing 76.4% of the total valid votes cast.
Ms. Joyce O. M. Tsatsu went unopposed for the Women’s Commissioner position and secured 289 yeses as opposed to 23 nos.
In an interview with the Chairman-elect, Mr. Isaac Donkoh, he assured members of his determination to mobilising his team to initiate realistic plans for the advancement of the Senior Staff Association. “Unity is more important now; we will ensure that we bring everybody on board to move forward in the right direction.”
